A RISING STAR
SHE'S ALL DAT AND SOME'
Herstory- Cande's Journey
Cande Rivers was born Crystal Anderson on Nov 10, 1988 in Chicago, Il to the late Shirley and Hosea Anderson who are from Birmingham, Al.
She began singing at the mere age of 5 years old sitting around the kitchen table with her 9 elder siblings. Beating on the table and beat boxing took the Anderson household by storm as cable wasn’t needed for their entertainment. Though her childhood was creative and free spirited, life became very challenging when she turned 8 years old. Her parents divorced after 36 years of marriage and that is when real life began.
From sleeping in a truck in their local Walmart parking lot to Motel 8’s, Cande and her siblings only had one thing to turn to, Jesus. Music, writing, and drawing were other outlets to keep her mind at ease, spirit alive, and her creative juices flowing. At the age of 10, Cande became a part of a group called Adoration which included her older sisters Candace, Cynthia and her God sister Tamara. They sang praise and worship at their church, Heavenly Places in Kankakee, Illinois. The lead vocalist was her eldest sister Chandria. This is when music really became the very fiber of what uplifted Cande. Many people who were addicted to drugs came off the streets and gave their lives to God.
Following high school, Cande went into the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 2010. Soon after, Cande pursued her life's passion of theater arts at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland. She relocated to South Florida and was blessed to join forces with the Valerie Tyson Band for 6 years. While being a part of such a dynamic brand she sang background for South Florida's Very Own, Valerie Tyson in Jazz in the Gardens 10. She was also blessed to sing background for Haitian Songstress Lavie in Jazz in the Gardens 11. Opening for artist such as Usher, Maxwell, Erykah Badu, Run DMC, Fred Hammond and many more artist.
Cande has been a part of productions at the Wick Theater in Boca Raton including favorites like, “The Full Monty” and “Sister Act”.
In the spring of 2017 she married the love of her life, Mauro Primavera. She was blessed to tour Jeju Island, South Korea in the summer of that same year.
Cande has released her second single, "Fight It" and is anticipating the release of her first CD, "The Ephiphany of Sex, Spirit, and Sanity." She looks forward to delivering the eclectic sounds that will uplift, inspire, and rewire a generation.
